Every day at Bialik, we expect great things from our students. The same can be said for our faculty and staff. Our unique Teacher Leadership Institute helps to develop the talents of our staff, making them the best possible educators and leaders.

One of the programs offered to our staff is the Teacher Leadership Institute (TLI). Founded by Viewmount Branch Principal, Benjy Cohen, and Director of General Studies, Amy Platt, the program consists of 10 three-hour sessions throughout the school year. Teachers learn about what it means to be a leader, how leadership styles need to be tailored to individuals and specific situations, and how to motivate others to maximize their potential. Participating teachers leave the program with a better understanding of their own skills and limitations, and how they can impact their students and school.

How to motivate oneself and others is a cornerstone of the program. Teachers and staff learn that focusing only on an end goal may not always be the right path to achievement. Instead, the journey itself motivates, creating greater opportunities for learning and growth. TLI participants come to understand leadership to be a path toward motivation and positive change. By focusing on Bialik’s core values and ideals, TLI graduates bring innovation and excellence to their students and colleagues alike.

Professional Development

Our high academic standards start with developing and supporting our faculty to the greatest degree. The teachers and staff who have completed the TLI program continue learning in subsequent years with members of the Bialik Administration. Much like students moving on to higher grades, teachers graduate to more developed stages of the program, continuing along their path of leadership at Bialik.
